Peace Corps
CELEBRATING 50 YEARS of SERVICE!
March 1, 2011 marks the 50th Anniversary of Peace
Corps, which began in 1961 with an executive order
from President J. F. Kennedy. For 50 years volunteers
have been serving around the world in the name of
peace and friendship through the partnership they have
in local communities.
Peace Corps volunteers are currently serving in 76 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Central
and South America, Eastern Europe, Pacific Islands,
and the Middle East. Volunteers serve for 27 months
with skills in agriculture, environment, business, health, development, education, and information technology.

Over 930 graduates of Penn State have taken up the call to use their skills to serve others around the world. Recently, Penn State was ranked 20th on the list of large universities contributing volunteers to Peace Corps. Help us get Penn State to that #1 spot!
Peace Corps at Penn State is supported by Student Affairs and located in the Career Services Center. Students may schedule appointments at the center's front desk or by contacting the recruiter directly.
