Temporary Disabilities

Often students will be injured or need surgery that will challenge them with a temporary disability. Getting around campus in these circumstances can be overwhelming for the student. Through collaboration with the Office of Disability Services and Transportation Services the university provides alternative transportation for students in these special circumstances.

One of those services is called the Para-Transit Shuttle. This transportation shuttle travels through the central corridor of campus, and augments the buses and shuttle currently running on campus. The intent of this service is to support students who have temporary impairments and are challenged to access areas of campus that are not easily available to travel within.

Through this program, Transportation Services and the Parking Office work individually with students who provide class information to the office in an effort to help get the student to locations close to their classes. The Para-Transit Shuttle provides point to point service along the Pollock Road corridor in the central heart of campus.

In order to obtain an ID card to utilize the Para-Transit Shuttle, students with temporary conditions are required to participate in a screening process coordinated by the Parking Manager in the Parking Office. The Parking Manager is responsible for the ID card issuance.
