Blue Cross Plans

UHS is contracted with Capital Blue Cross as the local Blue Cross plan. UHS is also contracted with Highmark Blue Shield. All other Blue Cross products, both in-state and out-of-state will be submitted to the local Blue Cross for processing. Some Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO and EPO plans are not included in the contracts and, depending on the terms of the plan, the patient may be responsible for the charges in full. You will need to contact your plan to determine the benefits and coverage if you receive services at University Health Serrvices.

PPO Plans

Do you have a PPO Plan? PPO plans have Out of Network Coverage. PPO Plans give you the freedom to choose the provider you want to see but will have a higher out of pocket expense for an Out of Network Provider. You will need to contact your plan to determine member liability when seeing an Out of Network Provider.

POS Plans

Do you have a POS Plan? POS plans have more restrictions. Do you need to see an In-Network Provider? Do you need a referral? You will need to contact your plan to determine member liability when seeing an Out of Network Provider.

HMO Plans

Do you have an HMO Plan? You need to see an In-Network Provider. HMO plans normally do not have Out of Network benefits and the member is usually responsible for the claim. You will need to contact your plan to determine member liability and coverage.

EPO Plans

Do you have an EPO Plan? Most EPO plans provide coverage to a specific network of providers and normally will not have Out of Network Benefits. Please contact your plan to determine member liability and coverage.
