Plan B (Emergency Contraceptive Pill)

Now available over the counter to women 17 and older, ECP can be used by women who are concerned about a possible pregnancy due to unprotected intercourse, a condom accident, or sexual assault.

Emergency Contraceptive Pills (Plan B), commonly called “Morning After Pills”, are effective up to 120 hours after the unprotected intercourse incident.  Photo proof of age is required at all pharmacies-- including the UHS Pharmacy--when purchasing Plan B.

Effectiveness of the ECP decreases the longer you wait to take it, so don’t delay if interested.

Only women under 17 years of age need a prescription--call 863.0774 and ask to speak a nurse to obtain one.

For additional information on ECP, see the Emergency Contraceptive Pills factsheet on this website or visit the Not-2-Late website.
