Ultrasound is used to diagnose the origins of pelvic pain and irregular bleeding in female patients. Through ultrasound, your gynecologist can determine if the cause is related to the uterus (ie. fibroids or polyps which may cause irregular bleeding and ovarian cysts) that may result in pelvic pain. Ultrasound is also used if there if bleeding or pain in early pregnancy.

Ultrasound services at University Health Services are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
