Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

According to the Penn State Safety Policy SY22, any Penn State department or administrative unit planning to purchase, use or maintain an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) must submit a "Plan to Use an AED" to the Office of Emergency Medical Services.

This "Plan" must address medical oversight, use, training, location, and maintenance of units. The office will review submittals, provide assistance in Plan preparation, provide written approval to the requesting department or unit, and will assess the effectiveness of the overall AED program.

Work Unit Plan to Acquire and Use an AED (interactive form) can be found on the PSU Environmental Health and Safety's website under Program Support Information.

For additional help or information, please contact Dave Jones, Office of Emergency Medical Services Manager, at 814.865.1772.
