Student Health Insurance - 2017-2018 Academic Year

Student Health Insurance Overview

Penn State requires all international students to have health insurance, and is moving toward an initiative to implement a University-wide health insurance requirement for the 2018-2019 academic school year.

Health care services can be very costly and unexpected expenses can be disruptive to a studentís academic progress. For students who do not have health insurance or do not have adequate coverage on or near the campus they attend, we strongly recommend the Penn State Student Health Insurance plan (SHIP). The Penn State SHIP offers comprehensive health insurance at a competitive price with a wide network of providers across the United States.

About the Penn State Student Health Insurance plan (SHIP)

The Penn State SHIP is offered through First Student College Student Health Insurance, underwritten by United Healthcare Student Resources.

We invite you to learn more about the plan by visiting the First Student website, or by selecting a student type below.
