Planning a trip abroad? University Health Services offers travel health consultations for Penn State students, faculty, and staff preparing for international travel on university business. From required vaccines to destination-specific guidance, our Travel Clinic helps you travel smart—and safely.
Getting Started and Scheduled
- Before your visit, complete the Pre-Travel Health Consultation and History Form and submit it with your vaccine records. Forms can be:
- Dropped off at the Student Health Center front desk
- Faxed to 814-867-2584, Attn: Travel Clinic
- Once your paperwork is received, our travel receptionist will contact you to schedule your appointment.
Appointment Cancellations
If a cancellation is needed please do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a no-show fee.

To make the most of your consultation and avoid a need to reschedule, bring:
- A list of medications, dosages, medical history, allergies, and recent hospitalizations/surgeries
- Full travel itinerary, including stopovers and border crossings
- All vaccine records (childhood, travel, school, etc.)
- Your International Certificate of Vaccination, if you have one

- Your appointment will last about one hour, with a 15-minute observation period after vaccines
- The Travel Clinic uses TRAVAX, a database updated weekly with global health recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and others
- Let the Travel Clinic know ASAP if your travel plans or medications change

- There is a $70 fee for the Travel Clinic consultation
- Travel clinic appointments are provided a no cost for University Park courtesy of the Student Initiated Fee
- Additional charges may apply for vaccines or medications
- Immunizations will be billed to your insurance, but coverage is not guaranteed
- Most insurance plans do not cover travel-related services
- Students, faculty, or staff using departmental funding should bring their account number
- There is a $70 fee for the Travel Clinic consultation
