MissionThe Undergraduate Research Society (URS) is open to undergraduate students of all majors, though we are primarily STEM-focused. Our primary goal is to help all interested students find research opportunities through peer mentoring, networking with faculty, and career development workshops. We also organized an undergraduate research exposure program called Undergraduate Research Introduction to Science and Engineering (U-RISE) where we teach cohorts of URS members lab techniques applicable to the life sciences and other skills necessary for success in the lab. This program is a result of a collaboration with The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. The goal of this program is to increase involvement and improve the quality of undergraduate research at Penn State. We are in the process of creating a similar exposure program for students in the physical sciences for the fall 2016 semester, in collaboration with the Department of Engineering Science.
