Campus Recreation Memberships

A Campus Recreation membership is included for all undergraduate and graduate students who are actively enrolled in classes and are being assessed the Student Initiated Fee for the current semester. All others may acquire access by purchasing a membership.

Membership includes access to our programs and informal recreation spaces located at the IM Building, Mary White Building, McCoy Natatorium, and Hepper Fitness Center adjacent to Rec Hall.

Actively enrolled University Park students do not need to purchase a membership to use the Campus Recreation facilities. Memberships for full- and part-time students are included in the Student Initiated Fee paid each semester. 

Student Summer Membership

Student Summer Membership

University Park students who are not actively taking classes during the summer can purchase a membership for $57. The Student Summer Membership can only be purchased in person at the IM Building sales desk.

Recent Graduate Membership

Recent Graduates

Any recent PSU graduate is eligible for our Associate Membership for the semester immediately following their graduation. Memberships can be purchased in person only at the IM Building, and you must show proof that you recently graduated.

  • Monthly Membership: $50
    30 days from the date of purchase

  • Semester Membership: $95
    Follows the academic calendar – fall, spring, or summer

Commonwealth Campus Student Membership

Any commonwealth campus student (including World Campus) is eligible for our Associate Membership. Memberships can be purchased in person only at the IM Building, and you must show your current Penn State Id card.

  • Semester Membership: $95

Current Penn State Faculty, Staff, and Retirees in good standing are eligible for the following memberships:

  • Monthly Membership $50

  • Semester Membership $95

  • Annual Membership $230
    Annual memberships start from the date of purchase and are available year-round for sale

  • Annual Payroll Deduction Membership
    Available for current University Park faculty and staff only.

Visiting Scholars

Penn State visiting scholars are eligible for an Associate Membership. Memberships must be purchased in person at the IM Building. Please bring a copy of your signed offer letter showing start/end dates.

  • Visiting Scholars Monthly: $50
    30 days from the date of purchase

  • Visiting Scholars Semester: $95 
    Based on three semesters and follows the academic calendar - fall, spring, and summer

  • Visiting Scholars Annual: $230
    Annual memberships start from the date of purchase and are available year-round for sale

UP Faculty & Staff Free Two-week Trial Membership
Campus Recreation offers a free one-time use two-week membership trial to University Park faculty and staff. The trial allows access to the following Campus Recreation facilities — the Intramural Building, White Building, Hepper Fitness Center and McCoy Natatorium — and amenities like the weight rooms, indoor track, climbing walls, pools, informal recreation (basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, badminton, racquetball, etc.) and group exercise classes are included. Amenities that require an additional fee, such as access to a personal trainer or the Tennis Center, are not part of the trial.

To start the trial, visit the Campus Recreation website, login using your Penn State credentials, click on the “memberships” icon, select the “Faculty/Staff FREE TRIAL Membership”, and enter the code “TryBeforeYouBuy" during checkout. Payroll Deduction
Payroll deduction is available for all Faculty and Staff at University Park. Simply sign up by visiting the IM Building sales desk to have your $19.16 monthly payment automatically deducted from your pay beginning with your next paycheck. There is a minimum 1-year commitment and payroll deduction is an automatically renewing service each year. Please bring a credit card for a prorated first month’s payment. We do not accept cash or checks.

Associate Membership (Spouse/Partner Memberships)

Penn State faculty, staff, retirees, and students are eligible to purchase an Associate Membership for their spouse or partner. To purchase a membership, both people must be present at the time of purchase and provide one of the following: photo IDs with matching address, mail with matching address, or a copy of a marriage certificate. A spouse/partner is eligible to have a membership without their sponsoring person having one as well, but both must be present to purchase.

  • Associate Membership Monthly: $50

  • Associate Membership Annual: $230

Alumni/Community Members

Alumni/Community Memberships

Penn State Alumni Association members over the age of 18 are eligible. Memberships can be purchased at the IM Building sales desk, and requires proof of Alumni Association membership and a photo ID. Memberships must be paid in full at the time of purchase by credit card. Memberships do not include access to the Tennis Center, Intramural Sports participation, or membership to any Club Sports. There are a limited number of Alumni Memberships available year-round for sale. 

  • Alumni Membership Annual: $500
    Annual memberships start from the date of purchase and may not be pro-rated and cannot be frozen or refunded. The year starts at the date of purchase.

 

 

Daily Guest Pass

Daily Guest Pass

Daily Guest Passes can only be purchased in person at the IM Building sales desk for use at any Campus Recreation facility on the University Park campus except for the Tennis Center. The price is $10 per day. At the time of purchase, guests need to be accompanied by a member, have a photo ID, and be over 18 years old.

Football Weekend Memberships

Football Weekend Memberships

Penn State Alumni Association members over the age of 18 are eligible to purchase Football Weekend Memberships. Home Football Weekend Memberships are only valid for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the weekend of a home football game.

On home football gamedays, the White Building and Hepper Fitness Center at Rec Hall are the only Campus Recreation facilities open. Memberships do not include access to the Tennis Center, Intramural Sports participation, or membership to any Club Sports.

Memberships can be purchased at the IM Building sales desk Monday through Friday before a Saturday home football game, requires proof of Alumni Association membership and a photo ID. Memberships must be paid in full at the time of purchase by credit card.

  • Football Weekend Membership: $30
    Membership is only good from Friday-Sunday of the weekend purchased for. Membership may not be pro-rated and cannot be frozen or refunded.

 

  • All Football Weekend Membership: $150

Membership is only good from Friday-Sunday during all home football weekends. Membership may not be pro-rated and cannot be frozen or refunded.

 

Locker Rental

Lockers are available for Campus Recreation members to rent at the IM Building and McCoy Natatorium. A lock is provided when you purchase the rental.

Rentals must be purchased in person at the IM Building sales desk. Day-use lockers are also available at all of our locations free of charge

  • Semester Locker Rental: $50

  • Annual Locker Rental: $150

  • McCoy Natatorium Semester Locker Rental: $25

  • McCoy Natatorium Annual Locker Rental: $75

What does a Campus Rec membership provide?

Membership Benefits

Campus Recreation membership includes access to fitness centers, most group exercise classes, and open recreation areas (indoor track, basketball, racquetball, squash, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, etc.) in the Intramural and White buildings.

Members will also have access to Hepper Fitness Center, adjacent to Rec Hall and McCoy Natatorium.

What is not included in a membership?

Membership Exclusions

Expanded Services and Programming options will require an additional fee. Examples include personal training, some specialty or individual fitness training, individual climbing training, IM sport registrations, Adventure Recreation trips, the Tennis Center (with the exception of students who have access via their student fee) and Stone Valley rental fees.

Do I need a membership if I don't use the fitness centers?

An active membership is required for anyone to enter a Campus Recreation facility (IM Building, White Building, Hepper Fitness Center, McCoy Natatorium). Patrons will swipe their valid Penn State ID+ or Campus Recreation Membership card upon entering each facility.

Can I drop my kid off to play basketball?

Minors at Campus Rec 

Most Campus Rec facilities are not available for youth under 18 years of age. The Natatorium, the Tennis Center, and Stone Valley Recreation Area are the exceptions.  These programs have a variety of youth options available.

Can I check out equipment?

All Campus Recreation members may borrow a variety of sports & fitness equipment to use in our facilities for free with their Penn State ID+/Membership Card.

Options include, but are not limited to: basketballs, racquetball gear, squash, tennis, table tennis, climbing shoes, bocce sets, and more.
