BLUEprint Mentorship Program
Starting or transitioning into college can be exciting, but it also comes with questions and challenges. Designed especially for first-year, transfer, and change-of-campus students—with a focus on students of color—BLUEprint helps students find community, build confidence, and thrive academically, socially, and personally.
BLUEprint offers a holistic co-curricular model centered on community building, student success and well-being, and cultural empowerment. Through peer mentoring, guidance, and community engagement, the program supports students as they transition into academic and social life at University Park. Whether you are new to campus or seeking a stronger network of support, BLUEprint connects you to people and opportunities that help you feel seen, supported, and ready to succeed.
What is BLUEprint?
BLUEprint is a peer mentorship program offered through the Paul Robeson Cultural Center. Our goal is to support students in building strong foundations that lead to retention, involvement, and success. Through one-on-one connections and community-wide events, participants develop leadership skills, cultural awareness, and a sense of belonging.
Help Make our Community Stronger
Students at Penn State thrive when they have support and someone in their corner. Getting involved in BLUEprint gets you connected to resources early and often, provides a dedicated network or support, and helps create a space where students feel empowered to thrive.
-
Lead by Example. Make a Difference.
Mentors are upper-class students who are committed to building relationships and helping others succeed. Through training and intentional guidance, mentors help create a welcoming space for their mentees to learn and grow.
Mentors participate in:
- Training sessions on cultural competence, mentorship, and communication
- One-on-one mentor/mentee connections
- Group events that include workshops, performances, social activities, and service
Mentor recruitment happens each spring semester.
-
Start Strong with Support.
First-year and change-of-campus students are matched with trained upper-level student mentors who serve as guides, listeners, and connectors throughout the year. Mentees gain valuable insights about navigating Penn State while engaging in enriching conversations and group experiences.
Mentees attend monthly enrichment sessions focused on:
- Academic success and resource navigation
- Cultural competency and identity development
- Personal and life skills
- Involvement and leadership opportunities
- Professional growth and career development
BLUEprint is open to all students, regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, race, or any other protected class.
