BIO
Robert Sparrow Jones grew up in northeastern PA. He received his BFA from Kutztown University and MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at Maryland Institute College of Art, studying with Second Generation Abstract Expressionist, Grace Hartigan. He has worked on the exhibition teams for the Tacoma Art museum, the Museum of Glass, Gallery Director for the City of Tacoma, and Exhibitions Curator for the Washington State Museum before becoming an Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing for several years. In 2014, he was selected to be Assistant to Glass Artist, Dale Chihuly in Seattle Washington to develop a new body of glass works titled, Glass on Glass. He moved to Tennessee for an Artist Residency at the Appalachian Center for Craft, then served as Assistant Director of Exhibitions for the Tennessee State Museum. In 2019, he worked as Curator of Collections/Exhibitions Director for the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. Currently, he is happy to be back in Pennsylvania, lives and has a studio in Bellefonte.
