JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park, PA is searching for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Advanced Care Practitioner 3) to join their team.

This is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position at CAPS.  Responsibilities include: psychiatric assessment, examination and treatment of a broad range of mental health concerns; accurate client education; appropriate ordering and reporting of test results; and proper use of consultations.  The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is allotted one-hour for initial psychiatric evaluations and 30-minutes for follow-up appointments.  There is no on call responsibility.  


The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serves as a resource for other multidisciplinary providers serving the client, client families, etc. and provides sound interpretation, as well as application of professional standards of practice and overall adherence to policies, procedures, and protocols.  They also collaborate with and participate in the education of fellow providers on staff at CAPS and in University Health Services as well as other campus stakeholders.

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher and 4+ years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the following three licenses in the Commonwealth of PA or be license eligible for all three: Registered Nurse, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner or Licensed Physician Assistant, and Prescriptive Authority.    

This is a 75% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Months off are early May to early August. Full Penn State benefits included.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

State College, PA, a university town, with a population of over 105,000 (which includes the State College borough and surrounding townships) was recently cited as one of the top university towns in the United States. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are 3 to 4 hours from State College and Baltimore is about 3 hours. The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park, PA has an excellent opportunity available for a Psychiatrist interested in working with university students. Position is available beginning August 6, 2021.

Clinical responsibilities include:

Providing psychiatric care, primarily evaluations and medication management, to university students within a multidisciplinary setting. One hour is allocated for psychiatric evaluations and 30 minutes is allocated for follow-up visits. There is minimal insurance billing, and all billing is handled by staff assistants.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with mental health clinicians at CAPS and providers within University Health Services at Penn State as needed

  • Providing supervision/consultation for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants at CAPS

  • Providing training and support for graduate students and doctoral interns from psychology programs, as well as CAPS multidisciplinary staff as needed

Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexually and/or gender diverse students.

Requires a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional years of experience required for higher level positions. Licensure or eligibility for licensure to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required. Must be licensed in Pennsylvania by start date of position. The successful applicant should be Board Certified or Board Eligible with either the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and should also have an unrestricted DEA license.

  • Greet customers, provide information, and refer, as appropriate
  • Screen and process routine telephone communications, mail, and requests 
  • Maintain, monitor, and manage schedules for 50+ staff members
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, make reservations, and process reimbursements 
  • Maintain files and databases; assemble and format data to create simple reports.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH), University Park, is seeking a Research Data Management Specialist (Data Analyst 3 or 4) to join its multidisciplinary team of researchers, staff, and faculty. The position is fully remote and will be filled as a Level 3 or 4 position, depending on experience. 

CCMH is one of the largest practice research networks of psychotherapy in the world and is a national leader in producing research on college student mental health (https://ccmh.psu.edu). The Data Analyst will work closely with the Associate Director of Data Science and other stakeholders of CCMH. Additionally, a portion of their time will be dedicated to working with Penn State SARA staff to complete Student Affairs and collaborative CCMH-SARA projects.

Primary responsibilities for this position:

  • Data management, extraction, and cleaning of large longitudinal data set
  • Query SQL database to extract data
  • Validation and documentation of data, syntax, and other data-related processes
  • Clean and prepare data sets for external research requests
  • Analyses for academic research projects with CCMH staff and collaborators in other academic departments
  • Collaboration with CCMH stakeholders and SARA staff on research and development projects
  • Work with third party vendors to integrate CCMH tools within their systems and monitor quality control
     

Qualifications for this position:

  • Proficiency in R and SPSS
  • Familiarity with relational databases and query languages (e.g. SQL)
  • Experience performing statistical analyses
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize and communicate analysis results
  • Experience testing and documenting data integrity
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with social science research, especially psychology research
  • Experience cleaning and analyzing longitudinal data, especially psychotherapy data
  • Experience developing and maintaining Shiny Apps in R
  • Experience developing and maintaining R packages
