Hours of Operation

A picture ID and valid Campus Recreation Membership are required for admission. Hours are subject to change. All changes will be posted in the affected facility. Intramural Building and Natatorium are closed on home football Saturdays.

Intramural (IM) Building

The Intramural (IM) Building is our flagship facility and a central hub for student recreation. With more than 20,000 square feet of fitness space, an indoor track, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and more, there is something here for everyone.

Many fitness classes, intramural sports, and special events take place in this space. Stop by, explore the building, and find a program that fits your schedule and goals.

McCoy Natatorium

The McCoy Natatorium is Penn State’s aquatic facility. It features a 25-yard indoor lap pool and a 50-meter outdoor Olympic pool for lap swimming and programs.

Whether you are training, learning, or swimming for fun, this space welcomes all skill levels. Grab your goggles and make time for the water this week.

Hepper Fitness Center

Hepper Fitness Center is located in Rec Hall on West Campus. This dedicated fitness space offers convenient access and a focused workout environment.

The center provides the equipment and space you need to support your health and wellness goals. Add a workout to your daily routine and see how consistent movement can make a difference.

Tennis Center

The Penn State Tennis Center is a premier indoor and outdoor racquet facility on the University Park campus. Designed for year-round play, it offers a clean and accessible environment for recreational and competitive tennis.

Whether you are new to tennis or a seasoned player, the courts are ready for you. Reserve a court, invite a friend, and get in the game.

Stone Valley Recreation Area

Stone Valley Recreation Area is a beautiful outdoor space just a short 13-mile drive from campus. With trails, lake activities, and picnic areas, it offers a peaceful break from daily routines.

Spend time outdoors, recharge, and connect with friends in nature. Plan your visit and explore all that Stone Valley has to offer.

White Building

Right in the heart of campus, the White Building is a cozy and convenient place to get moving. Whether you're into group fitness classes, martial arts, or just need a quick workout between classes, this spot has you covered. Bonus: it’s also home to wellness resources for mind-body balance.

Outdoor Fields and Courts

Penn State Campus Recreation manages several outdoor fields and courts across campus. These spaces support informal recreation, intramural sports, Club Sports, and special events. All areas are maintained for quality play and are available for scheduled use and drop-in activity.

Explore the spaces below and find your place to play.

  • West Turf Fields: Located off Atherton Street near Rec Hall, these two gated synthetic turf fields (360 x 200 feet each) support Club Sports practices, informal recreation, and reservations.
  • Park Avenue Intramural Fields: This 12-acre grass complex north of East Halls is the largest on campus and hosts intramural competitions, student activities, and informal play.
  • Bigler Field: Located behind the McCoy Natatorium, this gated grass field (340 x 230 feet) supports Club Sports practices, intramural sports, and Special Olympics programming.
  • Outdoor Pickleball Courts: Twelve courts located beside the McCoy Natatorium on Curtin Road are open daily from sunup to sundown for informal play.
  • Outdoor Tennis Courts: Twelve courts between the IM Building and East Halls are available for open recreation from sunup to sundown.

Campus Rec on the Move

Access your favorite recreation facilities and activities on the go. Find facility hours, register for programs, modify registrations, and more using the Penn State CRec app. Even eliminate the need to carry your Penn State ID. Facility and Gear Rentals

Campus Recreation has a variety of spaces available for student organizations to reserve for practices or gatherings. Rental gear and custom programs are available for both student organization and outside groups.

Campus Recreation hosts a number of student organizations in the White Building, Tennis Center, McCoy Natatorium, and in outdoor field spaces and Stone Valley Recreation Area.

McCoy Natatorium
  • Instruction Pool
    • A 6 lane, 25 meters, 3.5 – 5 ft. depth
  • Competition Pool
    • 6 lane, 25 yards, 6 – 10 ft. depth
  • Diving Well
    • 14 ft depth, 1- and 3-meter springboards
  • Outdoor Pool
    • 50 meters x 25 yards with short (20 lanes) or long (8 lanes) course capability
  • Classroom
    • 950 sf with table, chair and projection options
White Building
  • Room 126
    • A 14,442 square foot space with a wood floor gymnasium, available bleacher seating, and available basketball, volleyball, and badminton setups.
  • Room 133/132
    • A dual room with a removable partition for small or larger space use. Room 133 is a 4,172 square feet and Room 132 is 3,108 square feet. Both spaces have hardwood floors, ballet barres, and mirrors, and is commonly used by dance organizations.
  • Room 113
    • A 2,864 square foot space exclusively used for dance classes and organizations. Space includes mirrors, ballet barres, and a Marley flood (typically used for ballet)
  • Room 106
    • A 3,421 square foot multi-use space with mirrored walls and a hardwood floor
  • Room 50/51
    • A 1,496 square foot multi-use space reserved mainly for group fitness, musical clubs, and classroom space. Space features a tile floor and single mirrored wall.

All reservations are made within 25Live. Search for Campus Recreation to view available spaces and request a reservation. This is an initial request and not a guaranteed reservation until verified by Campus Recreation staff.

Once made in 25Live a space reservation request will be sent to Campus Recreation staff. Campus Recreation staff will review the request before approving or denying. Occasionally staff will request a meeting with the requestor to review logistics, details, and requirements. If the event is approved by Campus Recreation a pre-event meeting will be scheduled to verify all reservation components.

Registered student organizations can request a weekly practice space by completing the student organization request form.

What are the requirements for general space reservation?

In order to reserve a space with Campus Recreation you must give at least 30 days notice of your requested date. Reservations are made in 25Live (search for Campus Recreation for availability) and all requests are subject to approval or denial.

How do I reserve a space?

All reservations are made within 25Live. Search for Campus Recreation to view available spaces and request a reservation. This is an initial request and not a guaranteed reservation until verified by Campus Recreation staff.

What happens when I request a reservation?

Once made in 25Live a space reservation request will be sent to Campus Recreation staff. Campus Recreation staff will review the request before approving or denying. Occasionally staff will request a meeting with the requestor to review logistics, details, and requirements. If the event is approved by Campus Recreation a pre-event meeting will be scheduled to verify all reservation components.

Facilty & Gear Rentals

Campus Rec has a variety of equipment for use both on and off campus. Check out our outdoor rental center in the IM building or visit Stone Valley Recreation Area to rent a variety of watercraft to enjoy on Lake Perez.

Lockers are available for Campus Recreation members to rent at the IM Building and Natatorium. A lock is provided when you purchase the rental.

  • Rentals must be purchased in person at the IM Building sales desk.
  • Day-use lockers are also available at all of our locations free of charge

We offer free day-use cubbies and lockers with built in locks.  Long-term locker rentals located in the locker rooms can be found in Intramural, White & the Natatorium.  

There are parking options near all Campus Rec Facilities. Please refer to Penn State Parking [LINK] for the most current parking options.

At the time, Campus Recreation does not have a court reservation system available. Access to courts is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
