Peer Career Assistants are student staff who make a valuable contribution to the mission of Penn State Career Services. Our Peer Career Assistants are trained to assist their fellow Penn State students with the following:

Resume and cover letter editing and development

Job and internship searching

Interview preparation and mock interviews

Online resources use, such as Nittany Lion Careers, LinkedIn, and our Career Resource Center resources
Build Skills
Being a Peer Career Assistant allows you to help other students while building your professional portfolio.

Strengthen professional development skills

Perfect interviewing and resume skills and knowledge

Have the opportunity to network with employers and career staff

Develop interpersonal and presentation skills

Great related experience for careers in HR, recruiting, counseling, and public speaking
Get Involved
Penn State Career Services actively seeks interested, current Penn State undergraduate students (first, second, and third-year students) for Peer Career Assistants in the fall, with the start date for the following academic year.

Students of all majors with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for helping others are encouraged to apply

Peers will work between 8-12 hours weekly during business hours at the Bank of America Career Services or IST Career Solutions and Corporate Engagement Office,

Selected applicants must successfully complete a one-credit course during the spring semester, 2-3 hours of weekly observation hours outside the course, and complete a 2-day training session prior to the start of the fall semester
