What is an Information Session

An information session is an open meeting scheduled by an organization. These sessions, hosted in a classroom or space on campus, allow the organization to meet with potential candidates in a more informal setting. Most organizations present on their company and opportunities and allow interested students to ask questions and meet with their recruiters.

Attending an Info Session

Attending an information session gives you the opportunity to network with potential employers face-to-face and build a rapport. This is the perfect chance to ask questions about the organization and get to know the culture of the company.

Consider some questions to ask in advance. Research the company website and learn a bit about the organization.

  • What qualities and skills are you seeking for an open position?

  • What kinds of professional development opportunities are available?

  • Why do you enjoy working for this organization?

  • What are the goals of the department? Of the company?

  • How can I apply to be considered for an open position?
