University Health Services Radiology Department is accredited by the American College of Radiology and offers convenient, diagnostic X-Ray/Ultrasound services to all registered students, spouses of students enrolled in the Penn State Student Health Insurance plan (SHIP), and Penn State employees who have been injured on the job. Services are also available to Penn State visitors and sports camp participants while on campus.

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and staffed by X-Ray technologists certified through the American Registry of Radiology Technologists and ultrasound technologists certified through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

X-Ray Services

The department provides diagnostic X-Ray services only (we do not offer special procedures such as fluoroscopy). Patients may request copies of their images for ongoing care at an alternate health care facility or for personal record. Images are copied to a CD that can be delivered directly to the patient or mailed at the patient's request. Please note that there is a charge for image copies.

Ultrasound Services

University Health Services currently offers ultrasound exams for :

  • Abdomen (Liver, Pancreas, Gallbladder, Spleen, Renals, Bladder, Aorta, etc.)
  • Small Parts (Thyroid, Testicular, and miscellaneous)
  • Gynecological Exams (Uterus, Ovaries, IUD checks, etc.)

Request Services & Fees

All imaging orders must be provided by a University Health Services provider or a certified, outside health care provider.

Basic University Health Services medical service fees do not include the cost of X-Ray/Ultrasound imaging services. Imaging services are subject to separate charges for each service performed. The fee depends upon the radiology study ordered by your clinician. Univesity Health Services accepts insurance for imaging services.
