Volunteer Experiences in Health and Wellness

Interested in helping other Penn State students achieve balance and live a healthy lifestyle?
Health Promotion and Wellness student volunteers increase awareness and knowledge of health issues on campus including sexual health, nutrition, fitness, stress, sleep, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and body image and eating disorders through the HealthWorks, a peer education program.
Student volunteers receive specialized training that focuses on health behavior theory, health promotion strategies, and health issues relevant to the college population. Students then use their knowledge to connect with peers through one-on-one wellness services, workshops, and a variety of other programs.
Examples of Health Promotion and Wellness volunteer activities and responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one wellness services
- Present educational workshops
- Plan and implement health promotion initiatives
- Staff outreach tables and special events
