Research Advisory Committee
The committee determines what research the Piazza Center will explore as well as suggest how best to disseminate research to inform professional practice. The committee safeguards the integrity of the research process.

Student Research Advisory Committee
The committee will consult the Piazza Center as we develop exploratory research projects to help uplift the fraternity and sorority experiences and improve our professional practice. In addition, undergraduate student representatives may join research project(s) to assist researchers in project development and assist staff in representing the Center.
Committee Member Responsibilities
Committee members are expected to contribute perspectives and thinking to the current and future research of the Piazza Center as well as act as advocates, volunteers, and promoters of the Center. Responsibilities include:
- Suggest research priorities
- Review research and provide constructive feedback to enhance proposals
- Volunteer to assist with specific projects; this may include consulting with researchers, helping design research protocols, and assisting with the promotion of research projects
- Advocate in circles of influence about the support for quality research in professional practice in fraternity and sorority life, programs, departments, and headquarters
- Promote the Piazza Center with peers, councils, parents, alumni, and donors
Committee members are expected to participate as at-large members for a minimum of two semesters, but preferably three. Undergraduate students may continue to serve if involved in graduate studies. As part of this participation, committee members should:
- Be an active undergraduate student member of a fraternity and sorority
- Attend or participate in three meetings per year via video conference
- Participate in scheduled meetings with staff, researchers, and donors as available
- Allow the Piazza Center to publish your name, school, the organization you represent, and picture as a member on the Center's website
Application Process
A fraternity and sorority life professional (campus or headquarters) may nominate an undergraduate student. To nominate please send a short, one-paragraph description of why the nominee would represent fraternity and sorority life well as well as a copy of the nominee's resume to Steve Veldkamp, executive director, at PiazzaCenter@psu.edu by January 21, 2022. Selections will be made based on the diversity of candidates and capacity.
