The purpose of the LGBTQ+ discussion groups is to provide a safer space for students to express their thoughts, perspectives, and opinions on issues, knowledge, and trends in the LGBTQ+ community. These groups offer students the opportunity to explore their identities and interests. Each group has its own set of broad discussion topics that challenge students to expand their knowledge and develop their identities relative to their place in the world.

Discussion groups are only open to Penn State students and take place in the Center unless otherwise noted.

Beyond the Binary will have summer group meetings. The other groups will start back up Fall 2021.

Examples of past and present discussion groups include:

  • Aces (asexual and aromantic)
  • Beyond the Binary (gender identity)
  • BiLions (bisexual, pansexual, fluid)
  • Color Me Queer (students of color)
  • WLW (women loving women)

Closed Groups: All groups are "closed" meaning they are identity-alike spaces (you must identify with the group topic to attend).

Discussion groups are only open to enrolled Penn State students.
Groups do not meet on official University holidays. Students can attend discussion groups at any time during the semester.

We are looking for graduate student facilitators for  the following discussion groups: Aces. Please email for more information about facilitating one of our discussion groups.
