Well-being Wednesdays

Join us virtually Wednesday at 4:00pm for interactive activities facilitated by a community health educator.

Starting July 1, Well-being Wednesdays will offered as a series that walks students through the steps of identifying stressors and helps them practice skills to manage stress. Zoom link to all Well-being sessions:

Here's the line up: 

July 1 - Create a stress management goal - Learn about the Manage Stress Workbook, understand SMART goals and develop a realistic and attainable goal to manage stress.  

July 8 - Keys to managing stress Explore keys to managing stress. Evaluate your stress level using the stress tracker, and describe strategies and practice activities that will help you manage stress.  Experience a deep breathing exercise.  

July 15 - Control your stress -  Identify your personal stressors and learn how to recognize stressors in order to limit the stress response. Experience a Mindfulness meditation. 

July 22 - Identify stress management techniquesExplain your personal stress symptoms and determine helpful techniques when signs of stress appear. Experience a Compassion meditation.  

July 29 - Be Mindful, Be You -  Describe at least 2 additional mindfulness techniques and discuss which one is most helpful to you. Learn how to deal with distractions during meditation. 

August 5 - Mindful feelings - Recognize,  accept and understand your feelings. Learn how mindfulness can help you better understand your feelings. Learn about the RAIN approach and apply the RAIN approach to a recent situation or event.

Every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. via Zoom.  The class runs from Wednesday, July 1 to Wednesday, August 12.  Zoom link: 

The instructor, Sima Farage, RYT 200, MBA, CHC, CEE, will guide the class through a blend of yoga and meditation during each one hour class. Pre-registration is not required. Simply click the link and join in.

Health Promotion and Wellness has created a short self-guided course to help you manage and reduce your stress. This course will help you:

  • develop your understanding of stress and how it impacts your life 
  • identify your stressors  
  • develop coping mechanisms, strategies and tools to manage your stress

Stress Mini Series

This program is designed to guide you through understanding stress and how it affects you, identifying what causes you stress and learning how to manage it. We will be meeting weekly on Tuesdays at 4:15 for 45-minute interactive sessions. Zoom link to Tuesday sessions

July 14 - How Stress Affects Your Body - learn about how stress affects your body and participate in a body scan meditation.

July 21 - Aligning Your Goals and Values - learn how aligning your goals & personal values can reduce stress and participate in a guided imagery meditation.

July 28 -  Mindfulness and Self-care - explore mindfulness and self-care and participate in a breath, sound, body meditation.

August 4 - Affirmations and Action Planning - create an affirmation and action plan to reduce stress and participate in a loving kindness meditation.
