Health-Related Workshops

Health Promotions and Wellness staff and trained peer educators provide workshops on a wide variety of health-related topics.  We conduct workshops for academic classes (especially first-year seminars), student organizations, student clubs, and residence hall floors. Below is a brief description of the workshops we provide.  Please complete the form below to make an official request.  We do require two weeks’ notice for all workshop requests.

To schedule a workshop, please submit the form at least two weeks in advance. A member of the HealthWorks team will be in touch with you shortly.

Workshops facilitated by professional staff

Alcohol Workshop (60 minutes)

Get the facts about BAC, standard drinks, and high-risk drinking. Learn strategies to stay safe and reduce negative outcomes of drinking.

How to Help a Friend with an Eating Disorder (90 minutes)

Close friends play a significant role in guiding and supporting others.  In many cases, individuals with eating disorders cannot recognize a need for help in themselves, but a strong, caring friend can make a difference (NEDA).  Learn about steps to talk to a friend who may have an eating disorder, learn about the resources available on campus, and learn ways to foster a body-positive environment. Delivered by a staff member and a peer educator. 

Live Well, Learn Well (10-15 minutes)

Health Promotion and Wellness will introduce your class, organization, or club to HPW's services, programs, and free resources available to support student health and well-being. 

Mindfulness 101 (50 minutes)

Health Promotion and Wellness will introduce students to mindfulness practices and tools.  Students will learn how implementing mindfulness practices and increasing their awareness can help manage stress and support overall wellbeing.

Building Your Resilience (50 minutes)

Health Promotion and Wellness will introduce students to the topic of resilience and how to build resilience through mindfulness practices. Students will leave the workshop with several resilience practices they can put into action when faced with challenges. 

Stress Management 101 (50 minutes)

Health Promotion and Wellness will help students understand how stress impacts their lives, identify unique stressors, and develop coping strategies to manage stress.

Got Sleep? (50 minutes)

Make getting adequate sleep a priority! Learn how sleep impacts academic success, health, and well-being, and leave with tips to improve your sleep to help you feel energized.

Mission: Nutrition (50 minutes)

Boost your nutrition knowledge! Learn how to create a balanced plate and distinguish nutrition fact from fiction. 

Safer Sex Party (50 minutes)

Make your sexual health a priority! Learn how to protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections. Free safer sex materials will be provided.

Stress Less (50 minutes)

Feeling overwhelmed by school, work, and life? Chill out by learning some easy relaxation exercises and healthy strategies for coping with stress.
