The Center for Arts and Crafts offers a great selection of non-credit art classes and workshops for Penn State students, faculty, and staff.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the need to protect the health and safety of our community of instructors, and participants through effective social distancing, we have made the difficult decision to cancel spring and summer (May and July) 2020 classes.

We will continue to produce our create at home catalogs for you to enjoy in the meantime and hope to resume our classes in the fall!

Adult Art Classes and Workshops

Art classes and workshops are free from academic pressure and designed for beginners and intermediates. Class size is small, and classes are offered in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere to encourage discovery and development of creative skills.

Classes include: stained glass, drawing studio, acrylic painting, watercolor, wheel thrown pottery, cartooning and illustration, oil painting, photography, and more.

View our online online course catalog below or pick up a printed class schedule at our office (3 Ritenour Building), the HUB-Robeson Center Information Desk, 103 and 209 HUB-Robeson Center, and various downtown State College business locations.

Wheel Thrown Pottery Classes

Learn the techniques of wedging, centering, pulling, shaping, and glazing while working on a pottery wheel.

The class price includes 12.5 pounds of clay, glazes, and kiln firing. A $12.00 fee for a new pottery tool kit is required.

Ceramics Studio Memberships

Studio Memberships are designed for the more experienced potter. If you have wheel thrown pottery experience, consider purchasing one of our memberships for the semester.

Create at Home

Explore our Create at Home art project catalogs! Learn about a few famous artists, styles and various techniques for inspiration to create art at home! Because we cannot all get together to share in art and creativity in person, here are activities we designed keeping in mind those art materials you may already have on hand or items you may be recycling. Go ahead and substitute any supplies based on what you have.

We are excited to see what you create so please share your artwork with us! If you create any of the projects found in the Create at Home catalogs (or your own art) you can share images with us via craftcenter@psu.edu or on our Facebook page.
