Determining Your Immunization Requirements

The table below illustrates the unique immunization requirements for each student group living in both university and non-university housing. Please refer to Immunizations Overview for more information on required vaccinations, or visit How to Submit Immunization Information for instructions on how to submit immunization records.

Student Living in University Housing Not Living in University Housing
New Incoming Students (Undergraduate and Graduate)
  • Submit Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), and Meningococcal Conjugate immunization information via the submission process.
  • Submit Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunization information via the submission process.
  • Meningococcal vaccine is strongly recommended but NOT required.
Returning Student
  • Re-submission of immunization information is not required, if previously compliant.
  • If you are unsure about your immunization status, please log in to myUHS and select "immunizations."
  • Re-submission of immunization information is not required, if previously compliant.
  • If you have not previously submitted immunization information, you are required to submit Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) information via the submission process.
  • Meningococcal vaccine is strongly recommended but NOT required.
Change of Campus Student
  • Re-submission of immunization information is not required, if previously compliant.
  • If you are unsure about your immunization status, please log in to myUHS and select "immunizations."
  • Re-submission of immunization information is not required, if previously compliant.

Transfer Student
(Institution other than Penn State)
  • Submit Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), and Meningococcal Conjugate immunization information via the submission process.
  • Submit Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunization information via the submission process.
  • Meningococcal vaccine is strongly recommended but NOT required.
Exchange Student or
Non-Degree Seeking Student
  • Submit Meningococcal Conjugate immunization information via the submission process.
  • No action is required; however, for our records to be up to date, if you have not already submitted immunization records, you may fax or have your health care provider fax your records to:
    814-865-9309 Attn: PSU Immunization Compliance Office.
World Campus Student
  • Submit Meningococcal Conjugate immunization information via the submission process.
  • No action is required

Frequently Asked Questions about Requirements

Non-degree seeking students are not required to submit immunization information; however, non-degree seeking students living in University housing must provide proof of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine or submit a Meningococcal Vaccine Waiver.

No, only students living in University housing are required to have a meningococcal vaccine or submit a waiver; however, it is strongly recommended for all students living in apartments and communal housing.
