Alcohol and Other Drug Concerns

Treatment and Early Recovery Services at CAPS
Getting help for Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) concerns includes a broad range of options, from brief interventions for negative consequences of binge drinking or other substance misuse to inpatient rehabilitation for substance use disorders.
Short-Term Counseling and Referral Services
CAPS provides brief interventions and short-term treatment for full-time, registered students. The CAPS AOD program does not provide court-ordered services. CAPS staff also help with referrals to other providers of AOD services, including referrals for long-term counseling or higher levels of care. To receive treatment and/or referral services at CAPS for AOD concerns, please start by calling to schedule a phone screening appointment at 814-863-0395.
Group Support and Recovery
CAPS clinicians facilitate a drop-in SMART Recovery group during the academic year. SMART Recovery is a mutual self-help group offering support and skills-based training to help with substance use problems or other compulsive behaviors that have become problematic. Feel free to drop by or learn more by contacting Lori at: las192@psu.edu.
