Tennis
Our Tennis program within Campus Recreation is broken into two categories, Member & Community Tennis programming and Student Tennis programming.
Tennis at Campus Recreation
Student Tennis
Our focus on Student well-being and development continues to lead us in giving back to our students during their time here at Penn State. If you haven't, stop by our indoor tennis court and give tennis a try during our free student hours. We provide the racquet and the balls. No membership is required to play as it is already covered by your Student Initiated Fee.
-
Student Clinics
We offer playing-level-based clinics for Penn State students. Clinics are a great way to work on your game with other students who play on the same level.
-
Late Night Tennis & Pickleball
Late Night Tennis is open for recreational play and participants are able to design their own fun. On occasion, one or more of our professional staff will run games designed to include a large number of participants in a fast, fun, and friendly setting. Late Night Tennis is always free for current fee-paying Penn State Students and players can drop-in to participate.

Campus Recreation’s Summer Tennis Camp is open to youth from all skill levels to learn the game of tennis, develop a life-long appreciation for playing, and advance tennis skills in a fun and competitive environment.
We welcome players from ages 10-17 and each week campers will be broken into small instructional groups based on age and ability. This format follows the Youth Progression Model implemented by the USTA (United States Tennis Association). We adjust each program to the player’s level and focus on skill development through games, drills, and point play. Our beginners will focus on fun and basic skills, while more advanced players focus on strategy, point building, percentage tennis, and more. Join us for a summer filled with joy and tennis!
The camp will be held at the Campus Recreation Outdoor Tennis Courts located between the Penn State Intramural (IM) Building and Pennypacker Hall on Curtain Road. If there is inclement weather, the camp will move to the Tennis Center’s indoor tennis courts.
To enroll, visit pennstatecampusrec.org and click on Tennis* or stop by the Tennis Center. We accept credit cards.
*If you are new to Penn State Campus Recreation’s programs, please call 814-865-1351 to have an online account created for you.
The Tennis Center
Court availability is dependent on the varsity tennis schedule and when teams are in season.
The Tennis Center is open to Penn State students and public members. We regret that guests are not permitted at this time. For full-time Penn State students, no membership is required to play on indoor and outdoor clay courts.
The Tennis Center is a member of the U.S. Tennis Association and is the indoor home court for the University's men's and women's tennis teams. The center has 4 indoor courts and 6 outdoor clay courts. One tennis court can be converted into two pickleball courts.
- Our indoor courts are the home of all indoor matches for both our varsity teams. Match schedule and practice times are the first priority for indoor use during the season.
