Campus Recreation Strategic Planning

Over a three-month period, the entire staff of Penn State Campus Recreation engaged in a series of planning exercises and retreat sessions. We utilized the Penn State Strategic Plan as well as the Student Affairs Strategic Plan as our foundational documents. Additionally, we reviewed trends impacting collegiate recreation and higher education and how these trends might influence our programs, services, and facilities, as well as our constituents in the future. These trends reinforced the foundational resources and helped to create a roadmap for the development of our strategic areas of focus. Subsequently, we engaged in an organizational analysis to see how we were positioned to address these goals over the next two to three years.

The results of all of this effort are the creation of this strategic plan, Aspiring for ExcellenceIt includes our newly developed Vision Statement, Mission Statement, our newly established Department Values, and a series of goals, strategies, and metrics that will guide our efforts, both as a comprehensive department, and as individual units within our department. It will allow us to continue to achieve our vision and mission, in ways that are consistent with our philosophic orientation and values, and our commitment to the greater objectives of Student Affairs and our University.
