Step 1

Download, complete, and print the Personal Training Packet Personal Training Packet.

Step 2

If you answered "YES" to one or more questions on the PAR-Q or have any type of medical condition that would prevent you from beginning an exercise program, you would need to have your physician complete a Clearance for Exercise form. If you have any questions regarding the PAR-Q or obtaining a Clearance for Exercise form, please contact the Personal Training Coordinator at

Step 3

If you answered "NO" to all the PAR-Q questions and have no medical conditions that limit or prevent you from beginning an exercise program, click HERE and select Personal Training to purchase the package that works best for you.

Step 4

Consultation and Assessment will last 60 minutes.

You will need to bring your completed Personal Training Packet to your scheduled assessment time.

Be sure to wear clothes that allow for freedom of movement.

The Personal Training Coordinator will review your packet, discuss your goals, expectations related to personal training, and how your customized program will provide you assistance along your fitness journey.

  • After paying for the personal training package, the Personal Training Coordinator will contact you within 2 business days to set up your FREE consulation and assessment.
Step 5

Your Personal Trainer will contact you to verify your first training session.

  • The Personal Training Coordinator will pair you with a trainer based on your goals, expectations realated to the outcomes you seek, and compatible schedules.

Fitness Assessment

Prior to beginning your sessions with your trainer, a fitness assessment will be administered. The assessment will measure a variety of baseline vitals, cardiovascular and muscular endurance, flexibility, and strength. This assessment will be helpful for your trainer to customize a training program suitable to your goals and needs. At the conclusion of the assessment, you and your trainer will have the opportunity to discuss your goals and objectives specific to your program. Fitness assessments are included with the purchase of the 5, 10, and 20 session packages.

The goal of this training is to teach you how to preform exercises and movements to ensure safe and effective workouts; while Improving on your overall strength and conditioning to help you perform at a high level in every aspect of your day-to- day activities. Bonus: you get to do some workouts on the Turf to work on your speed and agility.

Metabolic training is about getting the most “bang” for your buck! The functionally based exercises are geared to working the different energy systems at a high pace and high intensity. These types of workouts elicit greater calorie expenditure after the workout, while increasing your ability to move more functionally.

Pro Conditioning

Using bouts of high-intensity cardio exercises with active rest will have burn more fat and improve the overall cardio system. Using agility and speed drills along with a number of different bodyweight exercises at a high pace.

Why workout solo, when you can have a friend by your side! Individuals that enjoy similar styles of workouts and share similar fitness goals will benefit greatly from buddy training! All sessions are 60-minutes long and the workouts are programmed by a Penn State Personal Trainer. You and your buddy each pay the cost shown below for the respective package purchased. We offer both 10 and 20 session packages.

Personal Training Policies
  • You will be provided with a personal trainer based on schedule/availability at the facility of your choice. Sessions will be conducted at that facility for the duration of your package unless approved by the Personal Training Coordinator.
  • All posted gym rules and regulations need to be followed. These rules and regulations can be found in each facility. (link to rules and regulations?)
  • Please arrive with appropriate workout attire. (link to attire rules?)
  • In the event of a schedule conflict, Penn State personal training reserves the right to transfer you to a different trainer for your session(s).
  • The Personal Training Coordinator will contact you to set up your initial assessment within 2 business days via your PSU email account.
  • Payments are to be made prior to first meeting with trainer. To purchase a training package, click here. (link to Fusion)
  • The Personal Training Coordinator will track all paid session(s).
  • Training sessions expire at the end of each semester and WILL NOT carry over to another semester. Training sessions are non-refundable.
  • All sessions are expected to begin on time and will last 60 minutes. The trainer will wait for 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. If you fail to arrive, it will be considered a missed session and will be deducted from your package total.
  • Only personal trainers that are affiliated with Penn State Campus Recreation - Fitness and Wellness, are permitted to conduct sessions within our facilities.
  • It is your responsibility to notify your trainer of any injuries not previously disclosed, past or present, which you may impact your training.
  • We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation. Failure to notify the Personal Training Coordinator will result in forfeiture of your session(s). The session(s) WILL BE deducted from your package total.
