Become a Peer Educator

The Gender Equity Center coordinates two peer education groups, Men Against Violence and Peers Helping Reaffirm, Educate, and Empower (PHREE). Men Against Violence and PHREE members meet weekly, plan events throughout the year, and are trained to provide educational programming on topics like sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, gender stereotypes, and more.

To get involved with the Gender Equity Center, stop by our office, email the groups, or attend an upcoming meeting.

Men Against Violence

Men Against Violence is a group of Penn State men who seek to oppose interpersonal violence in all of its manifestations and to promote healthy masculinity. Men Against Violence members meet weekly to plan events and discuss issues like sexual assault, relationship violence, and gender stereotypes.

Peers Helping Reaffirm, Educate, and Empower (PHREE)

PHREE members are responsible for facilitating educational programs and participating in other types of campus activities to raise awareness about issues such as sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, body image, and gender stereotypes.

Members meet weekly to talk and share experiences, while learning the valuable skills needed to be peer educators in the campus community. As a diverse group, PHREE students collaborate, support one other, and have fun with others who share similar interests.
